SSHRC Connection Grants - spring announcements

Connection Grants from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council support events and outreach activities geared toward short-term, targeted initiatives. Events and outreach activities funded by a Connection Grant can often serve as a first step toward more comprehensive and longer-term projects.
Eight UVic scholars received Connection Grants recently:
- Amanda LaVallee received $25,000 for Tâpwewin: Confronting Indigenous-Specific Racism in the Academy
- Timothy Naimi received $49,739 for Strengthening municipal alcohol policy: mobilizing knowledge among municipal stakeholders to promote community wellbeing
- Felix Pretis received $18,932 for Econometric Models of Climate Change Conference at ³Ô¹ÏÍø
- Kirsten Sadeghi-Yekta received $47,330 for Staging our Voices: An Indigenous Theatre Festival
- Héctor Vázquez Cordoba received $24,938 for Indigenous solidarity for sustainable futures: Dialogues across Yugambeh/Gadigal/Dharug Countries (Australia), Coast Salish/Kwakwaka'wakw Territories (Canada), and the Huasteca region (Mexico)
- Tao Wang received $14,709 for Econometrics-Machine Learning Nexus Conference: Advances in Causal Inference
- Richard Fox received $23,624 for Pursuing the common good: Southeast Asia and Southeast Asian Studies
- Christine Sy received $25,000 for Learning Together: Connecting Researchers Examining Colonial Injustices and Inheritances at their Universities
