Director, Institute for Integrated Energy Systems (IESVic)

The Institute for Integrated Energy Systems (IESVic) is seeking applicants for the position of Director for
a 5-year term beginning September 1, 2025.

IESVic’s mission is to chart feasible pathways to sustainable energy systems through the development of new technologies, processes, and systems. IESVic brings together experts from engineering, science, and social sciences to examine sustainable energy systems holistically. This multidisciplinary approach allows the institute to tackle complex challenges in developing reliable, cost-effective, and socially acceptable energy systems.

The Institute Director works with colleagues across campus to advance IESVic’s mission. In collaboration with Institute staff, the Director provides strategic leadership, facilitates impactful interdisciplinary research, and ensures the Institute’s continued leadership and excellence in addressing global energy challenges.

Qualifications

Applicants should:

  • Hold a faculty appointment at UVic while serving as Director
  • Have at least five years of experience in managing and raising funds for multifaceted projects and/or teams
  • Have experience in mobilizing knowledge for societal impact
  • Have a demonstrated track record of scholarly achievement in integrated energy systems or related area
