Prevention and support for Sexualized Violence
We believe that everyone has the right to live, learn, work and play in an environment free from Sexualized Violence.
The Sexualized Violence Resource Office (SVRO) is located in Equity and Human Rights. The SVRO offers support to all students, staff and faculty who have been impacted by Sexualized Violence.
Core activities
- receiving Disclosures of Sexualized Violence from people directly impacted as well as third parties
- providing advice, coaching, support services and referrals
- safety planning
- facilitating Voluntary Resolution Processes and receiving Reports
- delivering education aimed at preventing and responding to Sexualized Violence
- collecting annual statistics on Disclosures and Reports of Sexualized Violence
- leading the Sexualized Violence Prevention and Response Policy review every three years
Support is available
- in-person, over the phone and virtually; contact eqhr01@uvic.ca for an appointment
- anonymously through our Anonymous Disclosure Office Hours
- for people of all genders who have been impacted by Sexualized Violence, including those who have directly experienced violence, those who have caused harm, and those who are supporting Survivors
- regardless of when, where and with whom the incident(s) took place
- jurisdiction is relevant for reporting, but support is available for all campus community members impacted by Sexualized Violence
